Volleyball, Asakusa, Tempura, Sunday, August 3

We played 4 hours of volleyball today.  Again, no AC in this gym either.  At least this school had one water fountain with chilled water.  Jordan and I were so ecstatic with the discovery.  We were the water girls for the team for the day.  We went up and down the stairs to fill up all the water bottles.

We were happy Moeka joined us today.
Our oasis!

That little fan was all we had to cool us down.  Tati was having back pain so Jordan decided to give her a back massage.
Don't mess with the  sweaty Top Gun Ninjas!

More like Top Gun Angels!

The tiny one next to Tati is the setter for the Nakamura Jr. team.  She's so cute I wanted to take her home with me.

That's Tati in the air!

The one behind Tati on the right is also tiny but she's an awesome outside hitter.  She's been playing since she was in first grade.

After the games ended around 1pm, we stayed in this woodshop to eat our sobas and rice balls.  Luckily, this room had AC.

After the morning games, we went back to the hotel to shower and change.  We decided to go to Asakusa for a little shopping and to visit the Kannon Temple there.  This place was bustling with tourists.  Of course, some of us were distracted by rows and rows of souvenir shops and never made it to the temple at the end.

These shops are tiny and they use every square inch of their retail space.

Photo op with a little Japanese boy.  There were so many cute babies.

I just took a bite of the pickle!  It was a little salty and sour for my taste.

Coach Yoko, Tomo and Moeka took us to a tempura restaurant where we all set on tatami mats.  This restaurant's specialty is tempura -- shrimp tempura and rice, vegetable tempura and rice or shrimp tempura on rice.  They were all delicious.  This was where Sam had her favorite meal -- shrimp tempura and rice.

Done with shopping and done with dinner....If it weren't for those darn mosquito itch, this could have been a perfect day!

I think Jordan was pretty impressed with Tomo's muscles!

I think we were all pretty impressed with Bruno!  We hired him as our body guard for the day!  He took good care of us.

We had such an awesome day, we just had to jump with joy in the subway on our way back to the hotel!
