We love Nakamura School!
Nakamura School is an all-girls private jr. and senior high school, right in the middle of Tokyo. This is where Coach Yoko graduated from. We had the whole top floor to ourselves. We called it our penthouse suite. The view of the city was awesome. We were even able to watch the fireworks one night as part of their summer festival. From the tea room, we can see the Sky Tree. The girls had a great time playing cards and hide-and-seek all around their penthouse suite, discovering all the nooks and crannies there. Shaeli was the hands down winner, worrying everyone when they couldn't find her for at least half an hour.
We went to eat at Denny's a couple of times, which is located just around the corner. We had our choice of American or Japan style meals. We also frequented the convenient store, Lawson which has just about everything you want in there. We also loved the hot and cold ramen and the really yummy gyozas at a little hole in the wall ramen shop. Best gyoza ever!!!
Our host, Coach Su San (not our Susan), took great care of us. He was so kind and anticipated all our needs. He speaks a little English. Some of us slept in the library and some slept in the tea room on the tatami floor. Those
tatami mats were quite comfy and it was such a wonderful Japanese experience! Coach Susan had the best room there in her little nook facing a Zen garden in the foreground and the Skytree in the background. It was like a big Top Gun slumber party. The school was equipped with showers, washing machines, and vending machines that dispense either hot or cold drinks depending on the season. Very convenient! Coach Yoko has known Coach Su San for about 30 years. He took me to the bank to get some cash. He also took me and Samatha to the orthopedic doctor and helped us communicate with the doctor and the staff.
Both of the Nakamura teams were very good. They were strong , focused, and quick on their feet, especially the Jr. team. We played from 9am to 5:30pm and we really enjoyed playing with them. We ended the day tired and in pain but wanting to play more.
We all had a super FUN time. We will remember our experience here for the rest of our lives. Thank you soooooo much Coach Su San. We love you and wish you a super fantastic retirement. Thank you Coach Yoko for making this possible.

This is the actual "Team Room" where they make the tea and keep the tea supplies. I call it my charging station. This is the only spot with an outlet. |
