All is well...

We've been in Japan for about a week now.  We are kinda getting used to perspiring all day and taking daily showers. Btw, people here in Japan use deodorant water for all over body dryness.  We desperately need to go buy a bottle and see if we can look cool like the locals.

We are definitely getting used to taking the trains everywhere.  Yesterday, we went on a Hato Bus Tour which is very big in Japan.  At the end, the tour bus dropped us off the grand daddy of all train stations, the JR Tokyo Station.  Boy, you can definitely get lost in that building. There were really nice shops inside and of course more stair climbing and more walking.  I am starting to show wear and tear on my poor legs.  My feet are like plump sausages by the end of the day from the heat and walking too much.  I also have a couple of  blisters.  All the girls are fine except me because I am the old lady in the group. Ha ha!

Mosquito bite after 2 days
But guess what we are all suffering from?  Mosquito bites!  Those little suckers got all of us, young and old. The second day after they sank their stingers into our skins, we all started seeing these huge red spots and we all started feeling these extremely unbearable itch.  I guess you can say that was our bonding moment...we were all in pain at the same time.  We all had several bites. Kira had the most bites with a grand total of 31 (and counting).  Shaeli, Sam and Jordan had a few painful ones on thier arms. I only had about 13 bites but I think I had the worst reaction.  Mine were bright red and some turned into blisters!!! Weird!   We used western and eastern anti-itch remedies.  Helped some but we all suffered.

Sam's mosquito bite after a few hours.
On the day we played against the Nakamura high school team, Samantha hurt her thumb.  We were a little worried at first.  Coach Susan thought it would be best if we get it checked out.  So, Coach Su San (the gentleman in the pink shirt) took Samantha and I to a nearby sports orthopedic doctor.  Doc took an xray right away.  We were seen right away and the xray came out right away.  He said no  fracture, just ligament bruise.  So he put a temporary splint on her thumb.  It only cost us $51!!!!  What a deal, huh?  Samantha is doing fine.  Luckily, that was our last day of volleyball.  So Samantha gets to rest her hand. Kira also hurt her right foot.  Dr. Mom did her magic and she's much better now.  In fact, we did some more walking today.  Sorry, no pictures of the injuries.

Hmmm...let's see...any more injuries?  Does bumping your head into the wall above the tea room door count?  I have a huge bump on my head.  Many of the doorways in Japan are really low.  We kept bumping our heads. In most of the train stations, Tati and Samantha can touch the signs above our heads.  Some stations, we can all touch the  ceiling.
